I like to approach the subject of depression from an entirely different perspective, I believe the best way to deal with something negative is to take time to study and understand it properly.

Depression is mostly defined as a mental health or mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest or satisfaction in certain things and sometimes in life in general. But at the end of this write-up, you will understand that depression is beyond just a mental condition, you will understand that depression is only a product of something deeper.

Trying to overcome depression without getting to the root of the cause is like trying to bring down a tree by cutting the leaves instead of uprooting the root. The good news is that you can come out of that depression and not that alone, but you can enjoy a fulfilling and satisfying life.

Depression steps in the moment you start feeling alone, rejected, unwanted, or unworthy. It could creep in after the loss of someone precious to you, or maybe after a series of unsuccessful attempts or endeavour, for you, it may be after a broken relationship that leaves you with a feeling of being unworthy or vulnerable, for others it may have to do with a health condition or something about you you know you can not change, it may be the way you look or the way people perceive you..

I know a lady who lost the two people that matter the most to her in life; her husband and her mother-in-law all in one day, it seems they were all she had, to make things worse, she lost her sight too all in the same period. What do you think will happen to her? The motivation to go on with life ended because it appeared like there was nothing else to live for.

Another person told me how she contemplated suicide, she said she felt she wasn’t as beautiful as she wanted to be, and for some reason, she didn’t like the way she looked. While she was always looking happy and smiling broadly in most of her photos, deep down within her she was battling with depression.

Or maybe you have been searching for a better life with no avail  and maybe the bills on your table are pumping high, your credit score is dropping, or maybe your rent is overdue or you are behind on your mortgage or bills

You may be battling with an ailment that the doctor said has no cure, or maybe a medical condition you have to live with for the rest of your life, or it may even be something that stops you from living the happy life you would have loved

Whatever it may be, generally depression creeps in when the essence of living is lost and the motivation to go on with life is no more

You may be surprised that you may not even know that what you are suffering from is depression, depression could mask itself and leave you blank not sure what exactly is wrong with you.

Don’t be deceived by the smiles on the faces of some and the outward seeming happiness you see in some people, they may be going through a lot. Do you know that when the last moments of people who took their lives were taken, they were all found smiling and looking happy, for some, they were even playing and having fun with their kids, but right after that, they left and ended their lives in secret tears.

One symptom of depression is that it tries to keep you silent, most depressed people do not talk about their inner pain most likely because they find it hard to trust anyone to the point of opening up.

Another symptom of depression is that depressed people try ways to suppress their pain and frustration, so they relegate to substance addiction like alcohol and smoking.

This is one of the reasons I am a lot more sensitive and loving to people who are deep into substance addiction because I understand that a lot of people only use these as a way to cope with their depression and overcome rejection, but that is not who really who they really are. it’s easy to judge people based on what you see them do, but you have no idea what people are going through.

But you see the thing about depression is not just about the feeling, there is more to depression than what the human heart can understand, so some people do not even know exactly why they are depressed, they just find themselves depressed for reasons beyond their control

Contrary to public opinion, depression and the deep feeling of rejection are not just mental or mood disorders, there is an entity responsible for depression, it’s a spirit. At this point it doesn’t matter whether or not you believe in spirits and powers beyond the physical, your depression is a prove that another entity has taken over your mind, and it does that by masking itself and getting you to deny its existence even when the effect is evident in your life. Like a computer trojan or virus, the goal is to attack, maintain access, and yet not be detected until its full agenda is fulfilled.

Since we have agreed that depression is a Spirit, it doesn’t make sense to use motivation or therapy as a way out. I believe in therapy and motivation, and I know they have their place as far as bringing people out of depression is concerned, but there is a limit to how far therapy can go, In fact, it has been agreed that there is no known way to totally prevent depression. So it is difficult to cure something you can’t prevent, and our goal here is not just to cure depression but to prevent it from ever happening again and completely eliminate the tendency of resurfacing.

Depression is a product of a vacuum in your life, and that vacuum can only be filled by the person of Jesus, you are a spirit and you are built to find fulfillment only in the loving arms of God Almighty. There is nothing you can have in life that can ever replace Jesus in your life. If Jesus is not in your heart, a vacuum will be created. That depression, you are going through is only trying to fill that vacuum, because humans are built not to have a vacuum, so if Jesus is not the only one filling up that vacuum, something else will surely do.

For you, what may have found a way to fill up the vacuum is depression, for others, it’s frustration, for some it is sickness, others are demonic attacks, others are fear, depression is only one of the many things that seek to fill the vacuum. This was why I said depression is beyond therapy, because while therapy seeks to get you out of that feeling of sadness, it never fills the vacuum, meaning even when the pains are no more, something else will creep in, because that vacuum in you has to be filled by something. So, it’s either Jesus or any other thing.

If you have not received Jesus in your heart to be Lord and FRIEND, then combatting depression will be an attempt in futility. What if you believe in Jesus but still battle with depression, then you haven’t handed over the wheel of your life to Him, you may still be in charge, but when you totally yield yourself and open yourself to Jesus in your deep and honest prayers, He comes in majesty not as a guest or visitor, but He comes as the owner of the same life he created.

This is not an empty write-up, as you read this, power is generated and the anointing to break and end depression is immediately released. Receive Jesus and allow Him to work in you and permit Him the opportunity to re-introduce yourself to you.

God bless you, I love you.

I have attached a link to a video containing a song I love and it also includes a short testimony of someone who overcame depression:
